Dr. Suzana
Varga was born in Zagreb, Croatia, where she
completed her graduate and postgraduate
education. She graduated from the
School of Dental Medicine at the University of
Zagreb in 1989 and received her Master of Science
degree in 1995 in the field of periodontology and
orthodontics. She has completed over 500 hours of
continuing education courses and has participated
in many national and internation conferences. She
is a member of the Croatian Dental Society,
Croatian Chamber of Dentistry, Croatian
Periodontology Society and the Croatian Dental
Traumatology Society. She is the owner of the
Varga Dental Office and has been in full-time
practice since 1990. She is married and the
mother of two children.

When you mention esthetic
prosthetic dentistry in Croatia, the first dentist that comes to
mind is Dr. Siniša Varga. He is widely recognized as one of the
country's leading dentists and is responsible for creating
beautiful smiles, from children born with malformations to some
of Croatia's best known celebrities and public figures. The
innovative and accomplished Dr. Varga is also renowned in his
field as a healthcare manager and former deputy minister of
health, responsible for the Dentistry Act of 2003. He has been
consulted extensively for numerous television and magazine
interviews, including an appearance on Helga Vlahović's
"Govorimo o zdravlju" hit TV show. He was also included in the
Croatian national weekly magazine Globus's list of Croatia's
elite medical professionals, one of only 4 dentists on the list.
Dr. Varga graduated and received his dental degree in 1983 from
the University of Zagreb, where he was honored twice with the
prestigious University of Zagreb Rector's Award in 1986 and
1988. Upon graduation he completed his internship at the Sister's
of Mercy Hospital in Zagreb in 1991, afterwhich he volunteed as
a member of mobile surgical units of the Main Medical
Headquarters during the homeland war in Croatia. From 1993
through 1997 he completed residency training at the Dental
Clinic of the University Hospital Center in Zagreb, recieving
the title of prosthodntics specialist. A part of his residency
he spent in Gothenburg Sweden in 1995 where he was the first
Croatian to be trained in dental implantology at the Branemark
Implantology Clinic. From 1993 he has headed the Maxillofacial
Rehabilitation Unit, Department of Oral nad Maxillofacial
Surgery Dubrava University Hospital. As the only center of this
kind in Croatia, he has since then returned smiles to thousands
of extremely grateful patients with difficult malformation cases
such as cleft lip and palate as well as cancer and trauma cases.
The Unit also does TMJ bite therapy and extraoral prosthesis of
the eyes, nose and ears as well. He is highly regarded by his
peers in the field of presurgical prosthetic planning of implant
cases, especially in unique anatomic settings. Many dentistry
and dental technology students and prosthodontic residents cross
Dr. Varga's path during their quest for knowledge.
Satisfying the academic professional setting, Dr. Varga also
spends many hours weekly with patients together with his wife
Suzana who has been in private dental practice since 1992. Here
Dr. Varga utilizes his expertice in esthetics for creating
beautiful smiles through cosmetic dentistry, from Zoom
whitenening and porcelain veneers to advanced computer-milled
zirconium crowns and bridges. With over hundreds of placed
implants, Dr. Varga has managed to relieve many patients from
the burden of mobile dentures. Both Dr. Varga nad his wife pride
themselves in taking the time to precisely listening to what
their patients wish to accomplish with cosmetic dental
procedures so that each patient is provided with detailed,
individualized information to help them make an informed,
intelligent decision about the future of their oral health.
With a great interest in general and healthcare management
issues, Dr. Varga has been internationally certified by the
European Organization for Quality as a quality manager in the
ISO 9001:2000 standard. In the past decade he has become a
world-renowned lecturer and author on general and healthcare
management issues. From 2000 through 2002 he was a consultant on
a World Bank project for healthcare reform in Croatia, and from
2002 until 2004 he was appointed Deputy Minister of Health in
charge of the Professional Medical Division of the Ministry of
Health. Since 2004 to present he heads the Healthcare Resource
Management Courses Section of the world-reknowned Leadership and
Managament of Health and Science post graduate studies of the
Andrija Štampar School of Public Health in Zagreb. In 2004, Dr.
Varga founded the company Prosphera, today well known in quality
circles for it's unique consultancy style for introducing
quality management standards in both new and established
companies. Although the company is still only in its first
stages of development, it has also expanded into the fields of
publishing and expert medical witness testimony. Dr. Varga was
the editor of the Croatian Healthcare Directory, published by
his company Prosphera.
Dr. Varga is a member of the Croatian Dental Chamber, the
Croatian Dental Society where he was secretary general for two
full 4-year terms, member of Croatian Society of Quality
Managers and he is also a member of the Croatian Standards
Association in two technical committies: dentistry and quality
management. In addition Dr. Varga is a world-renowned lecturer
and author of chapters in two university textbooks: Fundamentals
of Dental Implantology and Legal Experisis in Dentistry. He has
lectured and attended many international conferences in
Washington, Orlando. Montreal, Budapest, Prague, Vienna,
Ljubljana, Amsterdam, Groningen, Paris, London, Schenzen, Mexico
City and many others. Every year he holds several lectures in
Croatia to teach practicing dentists state of the art esthetic
prosthetic dentistry.
Throughout his accomplished career, Dr. Varga has been committed
to educating the public about the world of dentistry. As a
member in good standing of the Rotary Club Zagreb Centar, he has
held lectures to rotarians on many occassions. Through his
service activites in Rotary International, he has donated both
money and time for many of Rotary International's project, the
most prominent being the irradication of polio worldwide. In the
local community Dr. Varga participated in projects ranging from
building a kindergarten playground to equiping the Sick Children's
Hospital in Zagreb with audiovisual equipement.
When away from his busy office, Dr. Varga enjoys spending time
with his daughter and son. Additionally, he loves to alpine ski
and also enjoys photography, videography and computers.
